Although Kalvin Phillips has limited experience in the Premier League, it’s been clear that he’s been more than good enough to play at the top level for some time now.
It’s always a risk for an England manager to take a chance on someone who doesn’t play for one of the “big 6”, especially in a strong area of the team, but Phillips has stepped up and looks perfectly at home.
He was impressive again today, and these comments from Gareth Southgate make it sound like he’ll be getting plenty more chances to represent his country going forward:
