The default reaction to a ball hitting someone in the face is to presume that it might sting for a few minutes but this looks so much worse.
Rennes player Romain Del Castillo goes up to try and block a ball, but the clearance fires straight up into his face and it looks like it hits him with the power of a proper upper cut.
It’s quite unsettling to see him on the ground as he appears to be knocked out, while he was then stretchered off so here’s hoping that he’s okay and makes a full recovery:
