Huge news for Arsenal as rumoured interest in takeover from billionaire is genuine

Posted by

A lot of Arsenal fans have made it clear that they want Stan Kroenke out, but there’s always going to be the challenge to find someone who can make that actually happen.

A few eyebrows were raised last night when the founder of Spotify Daniel Ek Tweeted that he might be interested in taking over:

It doesn’t sound like he’s a devout Arsenal fan but there’s clearly been some feeling towards them in the past, while Forbes have his net worth around the £4.7B mark so he’s a very wealthy man too.

It wasn’t really clear if this was just a bit of a joke from Ek or if there’s something behind this, and a report from The Telegraph is huge for Arsenal fans as it suggests he is thinking of making an offer.

They go on to say this is definitely not a PR stunt and he’s looking to open negotiations with Kroenke, although it remains to be seen if the club really is for sale.

The protests this week have made it clear that there’s no point in anyone coming in to buy the club if only want to make money from it so you would hope that the reasons behind this were genuine, and this is an interesting situation for Arsenal fans to watch.

  1. Would still prefer Aliko Dangote. He’s richer and wouldn’t sell us down the river as he loves Arsenal.

  2. Not being funny, but if he’s worth less than £5 billion, then he’s not rich enough to buy Arsenal unless it’s an extremely leveraged deal. We’re not going to cost less than £2 billion and that represents more than 40% of his total wealth (most of which will be tied up in his Spotify holdings). He’ll have to borrow heavily – either on his own account or, worse, have Arsenal borrow it for him. After that, I would be sceptical of the level of investment that he could provide. I think that Dangote is the only viable buyer around at the moment. However, after the number of times that he’s said that he’ll “buy Arsenal next year” I really doubt that he’ll ever pull the trigger.

  3. Arsenal have roughly 72 million fans , according to Forbes Arsenal are worth 2.8 Billion , thats about £40 each .
We could be the 1st club soley owned by the fans , like a democracy , we could all have a vote on everything .
Is this not a possibility ?

  4. Whenever KSE decides to sell, several real buying contenders would through their hats too! It’s Arsenal!
