Video: Karim Benzema equalises for Real Madrid with thunderous volley against Chelsea as Blues come unstuck against tidy set-piece routine

Real Madrid have drawn level against Chelsea after just 15 minutes being behind with a wonderfully worked set-piece routine leading to a trademark clinical contribution from Karim Benzema.

Toni Kroos rolled the ball out to midfield partner Luka Modric to spark a short corner routine, the Croatian quickly shifted it back to Marcelo.

The left-back showed that his crossing quality is still all there at 32 with a pinpoint delivery over to the far post, where Casemiro was no match for Cesar Azpilicueta and headed the ball across.

It was flicked on by Eder Militao into the path of Karim Benzema, the striker put the Blues on the end of his world-class instinct as he chested the ball before volleying it into the net with a powerful strike.

This came just minutes after Benzema rattled the woodwork with a long-range strike.

Benzema is just so reliable for Zinedine Zidane’s side, the Frenchman has been behind so many of the side’s big moments since Cristiano Ronaldo left, he deserves more respect.
