The 12 best signings by PL clubs this summer, including Man United, Arsenal & Chelsea new-boys

We’ve seen some major transfers this summer, so here’s a look at the 12 best signings made so far by Premier League clubs, featuring Raheem Sterling to Chelsea, Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal, and Manchester United snapping up Christian Eriksen on a free transfer.

Read on for our pick of the 12 best signings, in no particular order…

Raheem Sterling

A badly-needed signing up front for Chelsea, Raheem Sterling has joined from Manchester City in one of the major sagas of the summer. The England international is a pacey, skilful wide-man and a very capable finisher as well, so should give the Blues the ideal replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

Erling Haaland

One of the biggest names to move to the Premier League in some time, Erling Haaland has joined City from Borussia Dortmund, ensuring they don’t miss departing duo Sterling and Jesus too much. The Norway international is one of the deadliest finishers in world football and should score a bucket-load of goals considering how many chances Pep Guardiola’s side create.

Darwin Nunez

Darwin Nunez has joined Liverpool from Benfica

An exciting young forward who had a superb season for Benfica last season, Darwin Nunez has made the move to Liverpool and, despite a bit of a slow start for the Reds in pre-season, he should be ideal to help them replace the departing Sadio Mane.

Sven Botman

A top young defender, Sven Botman has been snapped up by Newcastle ahead of some other big clubs who could surely have signed him. The Dutchman showed huge promise in Ligue 1 with Lille, and he could be crucial to helping the Magpies’ wealthy new owners get this project off the ground.

Gabriel Jesus

A real statement signing by Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus was an underrated talent at Man City and he’s started brightly in pre-season for the Gunners. The Brazil international could perhaps do with another signing coming in alongside him up front, but he also has what it takes to finally give Mikel Arteta a long-term successor to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Christian Eriksen

A superb signing on a free, Christian Eriksen has joined Manchester United after leaving Brentford. One imagines a long list of clubs would have been keen to snap up the Denmark international, so this is fine business by the Red Devils to strengthen a problem area and give them something a bit different in the attacking midfield department.

Kalidou Koulibaly

A world class defender for many years in Serie A, it will be intriguing to see Kalidou Koulibaly in England at last. The Senegal international has been linked with big six sides on several occasions, but is now finally in the Premier League with Chelsea, where he looks ideal to replace Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Richarlison

Tottenham have had a strong summer, and this statement signing of Richarlison might just be the best of the lot to come in so far. The Brazilian is an electric talent and a big character, who’s shown what he can do in his time at Everton. Spurs will be quite the force with Richarlison up front alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Yves Bissouma

Another fine signing by Tottenham, Yves Bissouma has joined from Brighton. Spurs fans will hope he succeeds where some recent midfield signings, most notably Tanguy Ndombele, have failed.

Kalvin Phillips

A big loss for Leeds, but a great signing for Manchester City. Guardiola needed a long-term replacement for the departing Fernandinho, and Kalvin Phillips has shown he can be ideal for the job.

Tyler Adams

A promising young player, Tyler Adams impressed at RB Leipzig and will now hope to breathe new life into this Leeds side, who desperately needed to replace Phillips in midfield. One imagines Adams could’ve shone at an even bigger club, but we’ll have to see how he adjusts to life in England.

Keane Lewis-Potter

Finally, a real coup by Brentford: Keane Lewis-Potter looks an outstanding talent, who set the Championship alight last season. If he can take that form with him to the Premier League, he’ll prove a superb asset and should help Thomas Frank’s side survive in the top flight once again.
