Liverpool have made a decision regarding 27-year-old’s Anfield future

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is all set to leave the club at the end of the season.

According to a report from Football Insider, the 27-year-old midfielder will be a free agent at the end of the season and Liverpool have now ended contract talks with the Guinea international.

Apparently, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was keen to keep the player at the club but Liverpool wanted him to take a pay cut because of his poor fitness history.

It seems that Keita is not willing to do so and therefore the Reds have decided to let him leave the club as a free agent.

The midfielder arrived from RB Leipzig in 2018 for a fee of around £52.7 million but he has been an underwhelming acquisition because of his persistent injury problems. The 27-year-old has made just three substitute appearances in the Premier League this season and despite his undoubted quality, he remains an unreliable option for the Reds.

Liverpool are set to lose players like Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and James Milner on a free transfer as well. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can bring in adequate replacements in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Keita will be hoping to get his career back on track with the move elsewhere. The Guinea international is undoubtedly a top-quality player who is entering his peak years. He could be a key player for most top teams if he can get over his persistent injury problems.
