Chelsea defender Levi Colwill and Manchester City youngster Rico Lewis are both being monitored ahead of a potential call-up to the England senior squad.

Colwill is currently on loan at Brighton after Chelsea decided he wouldn’t be playing regularly this season. The young defender has flourished since joining the club on loan and has played a pivotal role in their success under Roberto De Zerbi this season.

Lewis is another young Englishman performing exceptionally this season. At times, Lewis has kept Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker out of the Manchester City team, despite being just 18 years old.

Now, according to The Athletic, both players are being considered for Gareth Southgate’s next England squad after performing so well in the Premier League this season.

Colwill has featured regularly for England’s U21 side, but Lewis is yet to even feature at this level and could skip the U21 squad, jumping straight to the seniors.

It’s been quite a surprise to see Lewis go from youth football straight to starting regularly for Pep Guardiola, but his performances have shown just why the Manchester City manager is already showing immense faith in him.
