Newcastle star could face jail after being caught driving whilst banned

Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon could face jail after he was caught driving whilst banned.

Gordon signed for Newcastle late in the January transfer window as Eddie Howe looked to add more depth to his attack. Despite a disappointing season with Everton, the young winger managed to secure himself a move to a Champions League-chasing club.

Gordon is yet to make an appearance for his new club after being cup-tied in the Carabao Cup, but could be in line to make his debut this weekend.

However, off-the-pitch troubles may prevent this, as according to The Sun, Gordon has been caught driving despite being banned only a few days ago.

It’s not a great start for Gordon’s Newcastle career if this situation escalates and he gets in serious trouble with the police. It’s certainly an unwelcome distraction for Gordon as he looks to reignite his potential after stagnating in the final few months at Everton, but he only has himself to blame.

The report claims that Newcastle have been contacted to comment on the situation.

  1. Oh come on this headline is ridiculous. So long as he doesn’t have previous convictions he will 99% be Simmons to court and given a fine. THERE IS NO ROOM IN OUR PRISONS.

Can’t wait to see this lad ripping up the turf at St. James

    HWTL

  2. Don’t panic folks. He’s obviously been a silly boy but haven’t we all. He’s looking at a £5000 fine so long as he doesn’t have previous convictions.

    All gravy

    1. But if he is banned, he does already have a conviction. Driving whilst disqualified is a serious offence and if Magistrates feel they can make an example out of a footballer, they might just do that. His decision to drive whilst disqualified is also viewed as a two finger salute to the court. It will be interesting to see what the court does.

  3. When I got caught driving while banned I was tagged for 12 weeks, fined and given probation.Magistrates treat motoring offences worse than burglars and druggies.

  4. Previous convictions although important are not as important as the facts surrounding this offense he has now committed, none of which anyone knows, examples of things that might make a magistrate lean towards a more severe punishment ie prison sentence are:-

    Driving shortly after disqualification imposed
    Vehicle obtained during disqualification period
    Driving for reward
    Significant distance driven
    Evidence of associated bad driving

So if he ticks any of these bi Ed head heading towards jail .

  5. He looks a bit like the punk in the original Karate Kid movie…if he had run face first into a brick wall…again and again.
I’m sure his mom finds him lovely.
