Pundit Roy Keane tore into Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City.
Pickford was arguably at fault for not stopping City’s third goal. Ilkay Gundogan fired in a free-kick from the edge of the box and the England stopper could’ve gotten a lot closer to it upon further inspection.
The Toffees are still out of the relegation zone but are only a point behind Leeds United who are currently 31 points after 36 matches.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Keane believes that the 29-year-old is not a top goalkeeper in England’s top flight.
He stated, “My goodness, looks so small in there. There is no spring, he’s not anticipating. Micah [Richards] said before the game he’s a top goalkeeper, he’s not.”
It’s a strange situation for the Everton keeper, he often looks immense when he plays for Egland and barely puts a foot or hand wrong.
However, he’s been prone to errors and losing his temperament when he plays in a Toffees shirt. It’s a fair point from Keane, with the Premier League boasting so many quality goalkeepers, Pickford doesn’t fit into that bracket in our view.
