West Ham reject Arsenal’s new £105m offer for Declan Rice with Man City expected to bid again today

The game of cat and mouse between West Ham, Arsenal and Man City regarding Declan Rice has taken yet another turn.

Overnight, the Gunners had submitted a club and British record bid for the Hammers midfielder of £100m plus £5m in add-ons according to The Athletic (subscription required).

After two much lower offers, surely the Gunners would’ve felt that their third attempt would’ve hit all of the right notes as far as David Sullivan and the West Ham board were concerned.

However, according to tweets from The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, the Hammers, whilst not rejecting the bid out of hand, have not accepted the bid because of the payment structure that Arsenal are trying to impose.

The journalist also notes that Man City are expected to bid again, and that the player himself would join Pep Guardiola’s City revolution if that was the only acceptable bid on the table.

Arsenal simply can’t afford to lose out on Rice this summer over what amounts to small, technical details. If they want the player, pay the money in the way in which West Ham require.

Whilst it’s accepted that negotiation is part of the process, particularly when you’re trying to land a player of the standing of Declan Rice, there has to be a point in those negotiations where it’s a ‘take it or leave it’ moment.

Arsenal are at that point now. If they don’t hurry up and get things over the line, it’s clear that Man City will come in and beat them to the punch.

  1. Walk away Arsenal! West Ham are taking the proverbial , Declan is not worth that money! City are only bidding to stop Arsenal having him.If he goes to City he will be on the bench!!
If we walk away,we can get him free in 2 years time.

    1. I agree!! Walk away and leave The Hammers with no options and Rice still on their pay-roll. City will back out if Arsenal does the same.

  2. Arsenal are trying to pay installment after 5 years…dats a bad one..y can’t dea pay installment for 2-3 years… Arsenal are not serious

  3. What is wrong with kronke he’s a 12b billionaire so he should have the money to pay 100mil up front and 5mil add on next seasonthis should satisfy west ham

    1. Rice is not worth that much! Arsenal should walk away and look for cheaper alternative like Mousa Dhabi

  4. Arsenal ought to have honourably taken a bow when City arrived. Rice is though a product of British media hype. He doesn’t worth the value placed on him.

  5. Lol this is fake lol man city pull out of the race they are not bidding that high then 100 m lol am sorry but west ham going have to accept arsenal bid because man city is refusing to bid 120 or 105 so I don’t believe this news this news is cap

  6. The only problem we have in this team is the management this is exactly the reason we don’t know how to bargain when it comes to transfer both the outgoing and incoming for example it took us less than a week to tidy up harvertz deal and whenever we want to sell we sell our players so cheap and I ask does it mean we don’t know exactly how to handle things like that?
If they can’t get us rice now it simply means they are the worst management in the whole world.

  7. Arsenal should act quickly to seal this deal because he is the type of player we are looking for. Arsenal owners have lot of money and why are they not paying the hammers

  8. West Ham! They are overdoing things. On till they are put to shame because they have no culture of it’s okay.

  9. Arsenal shud 4gt rice n take caicedo, I mousa Dhabi is gud also, n please don’t let pattey go

  10. Kindly let the over hyped English media hyped player go, go for 2 of these 3: Caicedo @60/70, Latvia @40/50, Moussa Diaby @ 40/50 then Chiesa and a Goal poaching Striker. Westhampnett can’t be playing us if this news is true. Kovacic went for 34 or so and Arsenal went to buy Havert for 65. Arsenal should learn to buy right and sell right as well.

  11. D. Rice didn’t worth half of that money at all at least £45m, the player that will be a free by the september of this year. Am a man.city fan, we man.city didn’t want him anymore. just imagine the money we used last season to signed the trio of E.B.HAALAND (£51m) both M.AKANJI & S.GOMEZ (£30m) can rice play three wings at same time.

  12. What is strong with Westham fc,if the story is true. The British like hyping their white players, How can they sell D Rice for $120m is not worth the price at all.I think Arsenal should make hay while the sun shine.

  13. What’s wrong with Westham? What are they feeling like? If they still reject this offer then back out. Is he that good that we should spend so much on him. Leave him and go for other options.

  14. He not worth it we should walk away, west ham cannot get this money anywhere cos his overrated

  15. I convur, he is not better than what Arsenal have in Partey and Xhaka. There are younger and hungry players out there. Go for those ones n leave us to focus than tourchiring our feelings with anxiety.
