Leeds set to block 19-year-old’s sale after Junior Firpo’s injury

Salernitana have enquired about signing Leeds United defender Leo Hjelde, but a move is not possible right now after Junior Firpo’s injury.

The Serie A team is interested in signing the 19-year-old to serve as a backup option for Domagoj Bradaric, according to the Italian news outlet Cronache.

Despite their intention to sign Hjelde, Junior Firpo’s injury means the Swede is required at Elland Road to fill in for the Brazillian.

Firpo is set to be out with injury for a month and Leeds don’t have another natural left-back in the squad. The 19-year-old Hjelde started the opening EFL Championship match against Cardiff.
