Huge Crystal Palace news could be a game changer for Eagles

Posted by

At this stage of the Premier League season, it’s arguable that Crystal Palace haven’t done as well as expected.

The Eagles currently find themselves in 14th position in the Premier League but only six points above the relegation places.

Their 22 goals is the joint third worst in the division with Man United, with only the bottom two – Burnley and Sheffield United – having a worse goalscoring record.

In many respects their form mirrors that from the first half of 2023, which eventually saw Patrick Vieira sacked and replaced by Roy Hodgson.

Former England manager, Hodgson, took the south Londoners on a brilliant run and well clear of relegation, however, this season his management seems to have had the totally opposite effect.

Whilst there’s no suggestion that Steve Parish is looking to dispense with his manager’s services, it could be the owner that loses his job.

That’s because, according to The Independent (h/t Sky Sports), Eagle Football Holdings are exploring the possibility selling of its 45 per cent stake in the club.

The outlet suggest that interested buyers are likely to only want to take up a majority stake, which would mean that Parish would be ousted.

Given how instrumental he has been in the club’s success of late, any sale could have huge repercussions for the club.

  1. I will always be grateful to parish for saving the club but unless something changes we are stagnating , barely surviving year in year out with little direction or ambition.
Unfortunately , 1 look at Chelsea or man utd proves that wealthy owners doesn’t guarantee success.
    Only time will tell

  2. The situation at Crystal Palace is unacceptable. The club needs a change of direction, either in the management or the ownership. Roy Hodgeon has failed to deliver results, and Steve Parish has not invested enough in the squad. The fans deserve better than this mediocrity. The club has to aim higher and take action.

  3. To be honest, we have not progressed position wise in the Premier league since we rejoined it.
We have made better player acquisitions, but we have never been knocking on the door of Europe

  4. Hopefully Parish will change. Responsibility is with Board. 2 experienced loan signings last Summer could have made a huge difference. Bad injuries have seen Hodgson do well for me, more points than anyone else in the circumstances. Our squad is thin and quite young beyond the first team. Go Palace.

  5. Personally I would be glad to see him leave and for the remaining directors who do have a good relationship to buy him out and perhaps then we can push on.

  6. Same old mediocracy season after season. Scrimping and scraping as Palace do. Let’s get used to it… It’s the Palace way.

  7. As a fan of some 62 yrs i do feel rather underwhelmed by the apparent lack of ambition other than survival.Too much talk of new stands and pushing on to the top 10 but little to back it up.If you wanted to see a success story Parish,Textor,Blitzer & Harris just look down the M23 .Thats how you do it ! We are sadly light years behind if you ask me .We need to start playing attacking football for starters.

  8. Think some unfair comments are being made, look at the injuries to key players, if Roy had the players he finished the season with -even without the irreplaceable Wilf – for every game the clubs position would look much healthier.

    1. stop making excuses for hodgson, well out of date performancesd have been bad.don,t give me our injuries what about giving the young un,s a go.always the sameplayer,s picked how can u pick ward orsclopp, useless where,s franka.tyhis club needs new blood.why should fan,s pay for the rubbish, hodgson turn,s out.

  9. We have never had it so good! We are are stable and doing as well as we can do for a club of our size. I am behind Roy Hodgson and Steve Parish to continue our gradual development. As for team selections, his hands are tied. Do you want stability, or exciting attacking relegation? Our back up players, including Franca, are not ready yet. franca for example will be good, but he is too lightweight at the moment.

  10. then u have not seen this lot play.we,ve gone backwards.hodgson is tyhe past we have half a team of reallygood quality players.a better squad than anyone ion the bottom 8.and don,t give me injuries everyu club has suffered.when u play men like schlupp ward both past it.did u know ward is personally rtesposible for 7 goals tyhis season alone.all fan,s that turn up will tell u we,ve had enough of this crap.our best hope is a new envigorating manager,to get this lot playu as a team

  11. Seems as though there is trouble behind the scenes again at the club with various outlets reporting a clash between Textor and Parish.Who’s going to want to come in as stakeholder or player with this going on ?Sums us up in the transfer market when we wouldnt pay Arsenal £20m for Nketiah a year ago and now his stock has risen to beyond our means yet we pay a reported £26m for Franca who is not deemed good enough for first team inclusion.
