“Drives me crazy!” – Gary Neville furious with Manchester United goalkeeper in Villa win

Posted by

Gary Neville expressed his frustration at both Aston Villa and Manchester United’s approach to the crucial top-six battle on Sunday evening.

United, having been level with their hosts heading into the final 20 minutes after Douglas Luiz’s equaliser, had initially taken the lead through Rasmus Hojlund in the first half amidst pressure from Unai Emery’s side.

Villa responded effectively to the goal, with poor finishing contributing to their delay in getting back into the game earlier. However, as both sides assessed the crucial nature of the match, Neville expressed his frustration with the management of the situation.

Neville’s frustration extended beyond just the overall management of the game; he also repeatedly criticised the tactics employed by both teams, particularly their approach to building from the defence. He highlighted their tendency to draw opposition forwards in before attempting to launch counterattacks seemingly out of nowhere.

“It just drives me crazy,” Neville furiously stated, via Manchester Evening News, about Andre Onana slowly taking his time to release the ball.

Ultimately, Ten Hag’s decision to persist with his team’s tactical approach seemed to pay off. Scott McTominay’s late header secured a crucial win for the Red Devils on the road, narrowing the gap to just five points between them and their newfound European rivals.

  1. First and foremost, is this the same Neville who lasted a total of 4months at Valencia? Yep, that’s the Neville who lost 11matches while winning 10 and drawing 7. I’m not sure that Ten Hag is interested in hearing how to manage by this managerial failure! Oh, oh, and this fella goes to Spain without knowing more than 10 words of Spanish and takes his brother who knows even less Spanish.

  2. Gary has written his final narrative about Ten Hag and the Dutch manager keeps tearing it up. He complains that the results are awful and wait, they improve significantly – he talks about patterns of play and when Martinez & Shaw are on the field we see football with a purpose and Rashford looks a far more dangerous player. We see Mainoo control games that someone of his age shouldn’t & I’m guessing Nev thinks it has nothing to do with Ten Hag – we see relationships between Dalot & Garnacho and Nev doesn’t see a process. Im guessing he doesn’t because his very successful team played direct, albeit under control – Arsenal played a far more attractive game as did Spurs. Poor Gary, he wants a role with United but no one is listening.. Maybe he should spend more time improving Salford and stop the management merry go round at his club.
