Arsenal set to battle North London rivals for Serie A wonderkid

Arsenal are reportedly set to challenge Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of Serie A wonderkid Francesco Camarda.

Since arriving at the club in late 2019, Mikel Arteta has completely turned things around at Arsenal with the club now challenging for the Premier League title for a second consecutive season.

A pillar of the Spanish manager’s plan for the club was not just to build a title-challenging outfit but a young squad that can grow to maintain that level for seasons to come.

The Gunners have the third youngest squad in the Premier League at an average age of 25.3 with Arteta reportedly looking to add another young star to his squad.

According to a report from Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport via the Daily Mail, both Arsenal and Tottenham have sent scouts to monitor 15-year-old AC Milan star, Camarada.

The Italian striker became the youngest player to ever play in the Serie A in November when he featured against Fiorentina during his side’s 1-0 win.

The 15-year-old netted 12 goals in 29 appearances for the under-19 outfit while also bagging four in six for the Italy under-17 squad.

The report claims that negotiations for a new contract at AC Milan once Camrada turns 16 have reportedly been delayed, putting a number of top European clubs on high alert.

Manchester City has also been mentioned as another club keeping an eye on the youngster alongside bitter rivals Inter Milan.

  1. He has not scored for the senior team let alone not scoring for the under 21s. Arsenal have better young strikers in the academy. Until the young Italian striker proves his ability against adults, there is nothing to get excited about.
