267 game Liverpool star considering future at Anfield due to disappointment over Jurgen Klopp leaving

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is believed to be considering his future at Anfield with clubs from all around Europe interested in the Dutch defender.

The centre-back has been one of the best players on the planet for many years and has become a Liverpool legend since joining the club back in 2018 from Southampton.

Van Dijk has played 267 games for the Merseyside club and this season the Dutch star was made captain by Jurgen Klopp. The German coach brought the 32-year-old to Anfield and made the player a key part of his success at Anfield.

Klopp will leave Liverpool at the end of the season and according to Steve Bates, Van Dijk is disappointed with his manager’s decision to leave and is now considering his own future with the Reds.

The centre-backs current contract expires in 2025 and he is believed to be in no rush to sign a new one.

According to The Mirror, the future of Van Dijk is a top priority for incoming Liverpool manager Arne Slot because if the player doesn’t sign a new deal, this summer would be the ideal time to sell the defender.

The defender is a key part of the current Liverpool squad and they will not want to lose the 32-year-old anytime soon as the Reds captain still has a few more years left in him.

Slot will be determined to sort out the future of his fellow countryman and it is likely that Van Dijk pens a new short-term deal before his contract expires in 2025.
