Arsenal are open to listening to offers for summer signing Viktor Gyokeres this summer, according to a prominent insider on social media.

Despite arriving with heavy expectations as the solution to Mikel Arteta’s long-standing search for a clinical number nine, the Swedish international could find his stay in North London cut unexpectedly short.

Arsenal to sell Viktor Gyokeres?

The report, initially broken by the ITK on X, suggests that the Gunners are prepared to entertain bids for the 27-year-old forward just twelve months after his arrival.

He posted on X: “Arsenal are open to listening to any offers for Viktor Gyökeres this summer.”

While Arsenal have enjoyed an impressive campaign, the club’s hierarchy is reportedly weighing up whether Gyokeres is the long-term fit for Arteta’s tactical evolution.

The decision comes at a time when Arsenal are already being linked with potential replacements.

Gyokeres’ debut season at Arsenal

Gyökeres signed only last summer after a long transfer saga involving Arsenal’s hunt for a new striker, eventually joining from Sporting CP for a significant fee.

While he has not produced the same astronomical output as he did in the Primeira Liga, his debut season has still been decent as far as numbers are concerned.

Across all competitions, Gyökeres has netted 18 goals in 48 games.

Though these statistics represent a solid return for a debutant in the world’s most competitive league, they fall short of the elite standard many expected. That said, a lot of it could also have to do with Arteta’s passive style of play.

For now, the Swedish powerhouse remains a key part of the squad and the report appears to be a bit far fetched at this stage.

  1. For a long time Arsenal fans have argued that we needed a 20 goal a season striker , so far he has 18 so he isn’t far off . He has done this in a team that prefers to play square rather than forward . He is probably not as technical as Arteta might want but if he can adapt his tactics to improve the supply line he will score more . Even without scoring more ,he has created problems for defences albeit as a loan striker without much assistance.

  2. I want anyone to tell me that attacker that is prolific under Arteta since his over 6 years at Arsenal! His system simply doesn’t allow attackers to score more goals- ask Aubameyang.
Gyokeres scored over 3 goals in just two appearances for Sweden in this recent opening but if he return to Arsenal, Arteta’s system do impede him.
Even Martinelli’s appearance for Brazil recently is great, but Arteta’s system of play will not allow him to do well. He use to combine with Lewis-Skelly on the left full back and score goals, with Eze as our attacking midfielder, but highly erratic Arteta has changed that to Hincapie and Odegaard and that has become problem to both Martinelli and Gyokeres.

    1. spot in. arsenal do not play attacking football, just lots of passing and hoping for a corner, throw in , or free kick.

I would like to see premier league bring in 3 points for a win, and one extra point for each goal in a match, win or lose.

football (and Arsenal) need more goals.

  3. This is bona-fide ball knowledge right here (above comment). I and many have now had 6 whole seasons on which to judge Arteta, and especially after opening the checkbook last summer’s window, the club and the fans can now definitively state that Arteta is easily THE BEST ASSISTANT MANAGER IN ALL OF EUROPE! No one else come remotely close to his tactical understanding of the modern game and his training regimen and system organization. He is miles ahead of the neatest assistant manager in any league in Europe. Unfortunately, to win the EPL you need supreme man management and elite in game adjustment management, and this exactly where Arteta struggles mightily!

    Sad but true.

  4. Arteta pattern is just the problem we are having at center forward and wingers. Bring fabregas
