Apparently Tottenham Sporting Director Damien Commolli made a point of singling out France Under-21 winger Franck Ribéry as one to watch in a recent match programme. Given the London club’s recent taste for snapping up young talent, even after the departure of Frank Arnesen, it could stand to reason a bid might not be far off – although it seems unlikely that Commolli would reveal a genuine transfer target so freely.
Other than being one of the most…shall we say…startling looking footballers Franck is a direct, dynamic little player and has actually been compared to Chris Waddle by Marseille fans because of his dribbling and invention.
He also happens to ply his trade on the right wing, an area Tottenham already have two of England’s best talents in Wayne Routledge and Aaron Lennon. But since Spurs also signed over a hundred central midfielders during the summer, this may not be such a stumbling block.
