Not exactly a surprise given the strops thrown at the end of last season, but Ruud Van Nistlerooy is officially on his way out of Old Trafford, probably to Real or Bayern who couldn’t care less that he had a crap World Cup.
What is also interesting to note is that you would be hard pressed to find any high profile players asking to leave Manchester United in the past decade, yet Ruud and Ronaldo have now made it two just this summer.
The 30 year old striker scored 150 goals for United, 39 in European competition and has been one of the most consistently prolific strikers in world football since arriving at the club.
But he’s also been involved in high profile spats with Arsenal, been compared in lookey-likeys to farm animals and generally been a moody bugger. Some believe his abilities are on the wane and generally had an unacceptable attitude, others that Ferguson is handled Ruud poorly last season and is now paying the penalty.
Whether you love him or hate him, he really does look like a horse.
