First, Thierry Henry was banging on about how great Ledley King is, the only defender who could regularly get the best of him without resorting to fouling. At this point, Kolo Toure was rumored to run into a local park, dig a hole, sit in it and cry.
“I have known William for a long time,” said Henry. “I’ve played with him and against him.
“In my opinion he’s the best centre back in the world, so he’s a vital signing.”
We’re assuming that Henry has played against Toure in training on a regular basis (see pic) so it’s not that polite to keep banging on about how great other centre backs are when he’s got arguably the Premiership’s best as a teamate. Even if he’s been baited into the question by a journalist, he could at least give Kolo a casual mention to give the lad his due. Those big ol’ eyes are probably welling up as we speak.
Then again, maybe it’s just a bit of tough love from that trademark Thierry Henry captaining to ensure the Ivorian doesn’t get too big for his boots.
