There’s few things in life that warms our hearts than seeing a promoted side doing well in the Premiership. The last few seasons have been a relative goldmine of such success with West Ham, Wigan and Portsmouth all doing well.
So we were happy to hear that Reading’s Steve Coppell picked up Premiership Manager Of The Month thanks to a fine run that included wins over Manchester City and Sheffield United, and a superb draw against Manchester United. If they can stay anywhere near that form for the rest of the year then they another year of top level excitement awaits, although it’s easier said than done.
And the fact that Everton’s Andy Johnson picked up player of the month reminds us that being the “Next Michael Ricketts” is a whole lot better than being the actual Michael Ricketts.
