Best Ever Foreign Premiership XI?

Digsy’s got a bone to pick with Brazil and Beeky

Talksport presenters Brazil and Beeky argued for four hours before coming up with their Best Ever Foreign Premiership XI.

They eventually agreed(ish) on this:

GK – Peter Schmeichel (Manchester United, Aston Villa, Manchester City
RB – Dan Petrescu (Sheffield Wednesday, Chelsea)
DF – Marcel Desailly (Chelsea)
DF – William Gallas (Chelsea) [Ed: This is as it appears on Talksport…]
LB – Gabriel Heinze (Manchester United)

RM – Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United)
MID – Patrick Vieira (Arsenal)
MID – Eric Cantona (Leeds, Manchester United)
LM – Robert Pires (Arsenal)

ST – Dennis Bergkamp (Arsenal)
ST – Thierry Henry (Arsenal)

Where to start? Where’s little Zola? In what universe was Eric Cantona a central midfielder? And is Dan Petrescu really the best ever foreign right back to play in the Prem?

I’d argue that Arsenal’s Emmanuel Eboué is a better player right now, as is Steve Finnan at Liverpool and Lucas Neill at Blackburn.

Apparently the ever popular Jean-Alain Boumsong, Sean Dundee and, of course, Marco Boogers narrowly missed out.
