Hughes Wants Six More

After wins against Portsmouth and Bolton, Blackburn boss Mark Hughes revealed that his side are on their way to meeting a pretty easy set them a few weeks ago,

“I set my team a target the other week of eight wins from the last 11 games and I think it’s do-able.

“We play better when we have targets to meet.

“Last year, we had targets and in the end we hit them.

“And this time we are very much in with a shout for the European places again.

“When you consider the season we’ve had, and the injuries we’ve had to contend with, it’s remarkable we find ourselves in this position.

“The top four is probably beyond us now – but I think the top six is still achievable.

“We’ve generally been strong in the second half of the season.”

Considering that the club has 12 wins to date, asking 8 more from the last 11 matches seems a little steep. But with a final run of matches that includes West Ham, Charlton, Watford, Reading, Fulham, Villa and Newcastle it might not be beyond them. We like Hughes as a manager and, if all goes to current form in the Championship, next season Sir Alex could find himself facing no less than 3 of his ex-players.
