Mourinho Calls Ref “Son Of A Whore”

After yet another spectacular match courtesy of Tottenham’s shocking defense and incisive attack, Jose Mourinho admitted he called ref Mike Riley ‘filho da puta’ – Portugese for ‘son of a whore’.

The Chelsea boss wasn’t done there, of course, and threw out a few more complaints in plain English about the refereeing during the 3-3 FA cup draw.

I say that 10 times — every 15 words. If you had a microphone in the dugout, I say that 20 times in a game. The word can be abusive if you want it to be, but I say it to the players, I say it to myself and I say it when the ball hits the post.

‘I say it 50 times a game. I don’t want to be offensive to anyone. It is the same word I use to criticise the ball when it hits the post and goes out.’

The Chelsea chief added: ‘All season has not been easy with Mr Riley. Every free-kick was against Chelsea. Dawson comes in behind Drogba —free-kick against Drogba. Defoe backs into Essien — free-kick against Essien. Rocha pulls Shevchenko — no free-kick. Carvalho touches someone — free-kick. There were too many decisions against Chelsea. I spoke to him in a polite way because that is the way I do it.

More than a little hyperbole in there, and again there’s no mention of Arjen Robben’s blatant diving going unpunished. But Spurs-Chelsea is fast becoming a genuine rivalry for once, with Martin Jol’s side already beating the Champions in the Premiership.
