Latest Transfer Rumours: Kallstrom, Drogba, Woodgate, Gilberto, Reo-Coker, Sinclair and More

The world of Premiership transfer rumours is full of nonsense, but some nonsense is more interesting that the other nonsense. Speculation is rife in the likes of the Mirror, Daily Mail, Times, Sun and… err… Tribal Football all do their best to predict and/or completely make up the future.

Here’s our opinion on the rumours we’ve read in the papers and around the net… and if you have any thoughts, pop em in the comments.

Lyon’s Swedish international Kim Kallstrom is attracting the interest of Arsene Wenger and Martin Jol, both of whom are reportedly willing to pay £8m.CaughtOffside Says: With respect to Wenger and Jol, a few hundred thousand people already beat them to the punch on Kallstrom years ago via the delusion-inducing Championship Manager. But KK is one of the few to video game ‘stars’ to legitimately go from unknown to playing for a leading European club, and we would love to see him in the Premiership. Has a bit of bite and fight about him, so might not suit either club…

Jonathan Woodgate admits he will wait to see which other clubs want to sign him before making a decision whether or not to sign a permanent deal with Middlesbrough Football Club.CaughtOffside Says:Bad news for Boro fans, many of whom we know thought Woody would stick around with the club who gave him a chance – but the realists knew it wouldn’t last. He’s shown he’s still a world class defender when fit, and anyone from Arsenal, to Tottenham, to Liverpool, to Newcastle to all of Serie A will be looking his way.

Gilberto Silva can take advantage of new Fifa rules and buy out the remaining two-years of his contract at around £2million, yet Juventus are willing to negotiate with the Londoners and offer £7million.CaughtOffside Says:Gilberto is Makelele before he had a position named after him, underrated and underappreciated although many Gunners have warmed to him after his goalscoring exploits earlier in the season. He’s one of those players you don’t miss till he’s not there, but we doubt Arsenal fans will have to worry about it. Wenger knows, after all…

Arsenal are ready to beat Manchester United to the signing of Norwegian defender Havard Nordtveit, 16.CaughtOffside Says:Cool. We’ll be seeing him start by this time next year then.

Aston Villa will pay whatever it takes to sign Nigel Reo-Coker from West Ham at the end of the season.CaughtOffside Says: 500K it is! But seriously, he’ll still command a couple million and Martin O’Neill is the right manager to get him back on form. West Ham get rid of a permanent sulk, a bit of dosh, and everyone’s happy.

Watford and Reading are competing for Millwall midfielder Marvin Elliott, whose contract runs out at the end of the season.CaughtOffside Says: It’s a tough decision, unless you look at the current Premiership table and consider that Watford will be relegated. Which he will, so congratulations Reading on signing Marvin Elliott.

Plymouth are in talks with Chelsea about keeping teenage sensation Scott Sinclair at Home Park for next season.CaughtOffside Says:We imagine this will be relatively easy considering Sinclair won’t be getting a sniff of the first team for a while. A summer reshuffle is almost inevitable at Chelsea if they don’t win the quadruple and the World Cup, and untried youngsters won’t be on the menu.

Didier Drogba’s younger brother Joel hopes to win a contract with Leyton Orient and will play for their reserves on Tuesday.CaughtOffside Says:Didier and JOEL Drogba? Ok… but if he’s anything like George Weah’s cousin, this should be fantastic.
