Premiership Transfer Rumours: Viduka, Giles Barnes, Joey Barton, Diouf, Porritt and Bellamy

The world of Premiership transfer gossip is full of nonsense, but some nonsense is more interesting that the other nonsense. Speculation is rife in the likes of the Mirror, Daily Mail, Times, Sun and… err… Tribal Football all do their best to predict and/or completely make up the future.

Here’s our opinion on the Premiership transfer rumours we’ve read in the papers and around the net… and if you have any thoughts, pop em in the comments.

Manchester United and Newcastle are after Middlesbrough striker Mark Viduka, available on a free.

CaughtOffside Says:
He’d fit Ferguson’s favourite kind of forward (smart, can drop deep and link play) and there’s no doubt that – when he can be bothered – he’s one of the Premiership’s best talents. Wouldn’t be at all surprised to see this happen given how fond Ferguson is of incredibly old players (Larsson, Blanc, Solksjaer).

Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton is hoping a move abroad to either Roma, Atletico Madrid, Hamburg or Bayern Munich.CaughtOffside Says: Is there really a better place for a nutter like Barton than Serie A, home of the “Ultras”?

Middlesbrough winger Nathan Porritt – dubbed the next Ryan Giggs – is being coveted by Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool.CaughtOffside Says: The lad from the Panorama bung “expose” comes to the fore once again, we signed him in FM2007 and he turned out to be sh*t. So…

Derby’s Giles Barnes will stay at the club even if they aren’t promoted, rejecting a move to Tottenham.CaughtOffside Says:Other than being incredibly insulting, probably a smart move for Barnes at this time. He’s only come to a bit of prominence this season and could use the extra experience. Spurs’ midfield is so cluttered he’d spend most of his time chatting to former team mate Tom Huddlestone up in the stands.

Blackburn and Aston Villa are interested in Craig Bellamy.CaughtOffside Says: If Liverpool don’t want him, there’ll be no shortage of teams lining up for the speedy striker. Always a threat with his pace, he’d fit in nicely back at Blackburn or in M’ON’s revolution.
