The world of Premiership transfer gossip is full of nonsense, but some nonsense is more interesting that the other nonsense. Speculation is rife in the likes of the Mirror, Daily Mail, Times, Sun and… err… Tribal Football all do their best to predict and/or completely make up the future.

Here’s our opinion on the Premiership transfer rumours we’ve read in the papers and around the net… and if you have any thoughts, pop em in the comments.

Manchester United are set to swoop for West Ham striker Carlos Tevez and want to complete the deal – believed to be worth more than £20m – inside 48 hours. (Daily Mirror)

CaughtOffside Says: See here.

Chelsea have upped their bid for Tottenham defender Pascal Chimbonda to £12m after being priced out of a move for Sevilla’s £20m-rated full-back Daniel Alves, who is wanted by Liverpool. (The Sun)

CaughtOffside Says: Interesting, but we really can’t see this happening unless Roman Abramovich has decided to start severely overpaying for players again.

Sven-Goran Eriksson, who is poised to become the manager of Manchester City, believes he will need to sign at least 10 players to bring success to the club. (Various)

CaughtOffside Says: It says a lot about Manchester City these days that our reaction to this was “Yeah, sounds right…”

West Ham have prepared an £11m package for Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy, which would include midfielder Yossi Benayoun going to Anfield as part of the deal. (Daily Star)

CaughtOffside Says: Bellamy is always going to be a dangerous man in the Premiership but if West Ham are trying to avoid drama they may want to think this one over a bit.

Tottenham have offered West Brom £4m and winger Wayne Routledge in exchange for defender Curtis Davies. (The Times)

CaughtOffside Says: Surely Wayne’s value, after failing at Spurs and failing on loan to Portsmouth and failing on loan to Fulham, only puts this deal at about 4.5m?

Fiorentina are set to make a £3m bid for Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg. (Various)

CaughtOffside Says: If Wenger can get 3 million for Freddie, then we officially declare him the World’s Greatest Manager.

Aston Villa are to step up their bid to land Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe with Portsmouth also interested. (Daily Star)

CaughtOffside Says:Defoe says he’s happy. Martin Jol says he wants Defoe. So why can’t anyone just let this one be?

Real Madrid are close to agreeing a fee for Chelsea winger Arjen Robben. (Daily Telegraph)

CaughtOffside Says: With Malouda on the way in, you’d think that this one becomes more of a possibility. But after injuries allegedly wrecked Chelsea’s season last time around, we just dont see Mourinho letting this happen.

Preston striker David Nugent will seal a move to Portsmouth within the next 24 hours. (Various)

CaughtOffside Says: Turning down Roy Keane for Harry Redknapp? That’s a bold move, although Harry has got a pretty good record for developing young talent. Nugent better be bloody amazing after all the interest and hype.

Reading are targeting West Ham forward Bobby Zamora in a £2.5m swoop. (Daily Mirror)

CaughtOffside Says: The first sign of Reading realising they need to spend a bit of cash to avoid becoming Ipswich in 07/08. Getting a man who helped keep West Ham up is a decent start.
