Bolton look to secure relegation with appointment of Leicester’s Megson

How do you follow a manager as good as Sammy Lee? For Bolton it is a case of replacing like for like and picking a manager who is also absolutely f##%$[censored]#t. That’s right, it’s West Brom and Nottingham Forest failure Gary Megson. And they won’t take no for an answer:

The Guardian writes:

“Bolton Wanderers have had a second approach for Gary Megson rejected by Leicester City but are expected to make a third attempt as their search for a new manager intensifies”

And it doesn’t end there. It could have been worse:

“The Bolton chairman was nevertheless disappointed when Graeme Souness withdrew his candidacy yesterday. “[He] was a candidate on our target list and has now decided to remove himself from the process,” said Gartside, who sacked Sammy Lee last week. “Having interviewed Graeme Souness for the job I knew he would have been an exceptional candidate.”

And we thought Sammy Lee’s judgement was bad. At this rate Bolton fans should be dusting off the Rough Guide to The Championship and taking one last longing look at the famous faces parading through the Reebok every other week before it all turns to mud. It would be a shame, as Bolton have been one of the most compelling stories in the top flight under Sam Allardyce, but there was never going to be much hope once he buggered off.
