Who would want the Derby job? A chance to be known as the manager of the worst Premier League team ever, a chance to work with Robert Earnshaw, a chance to manage an average Championship team next year. Who would want that? Well, possibly the manager of the MK Dons. A certain Paul Ince.
Bookmakers Coral said the “wheels may have already been put in motion” on an Ince deal and Ladbrokes took “£50 on Ince for every £1 on Paul Jewell”.
And the bookmaker is almost always right, sorry Jewelly, just listen to Ladbrokes.
Spokesman Robin Hutchison said: “We took a number of bets on Ince in our Derby shops and a lot from account holders in the Cheshire area.
“It has been known to tell lies, but if money talks it’s a done deal.”
Money indeed never lies, though it sometimes does throw itself at Robert Earnshaw, which is much, much worse. Will Paul Ince be able to recover from the mistakes Derby have made, or is he just a lower-league manager with a higher-league name?
