New Wigan manager Steve Bruce conducts his life constantly in the eye of a tigerish storm, if it isn’t his pet pup he is berating for crapping on the living room carpet, it is an ever growing queue of blind referees facing his whirling rage; now though Bruce has fired off some verbal projectiles at his old club Birmingham. As COSs Josh reported, there was a slight wrangle over image rights(!) – the ensuing rumpus was sorted when a compromise over money was made – but that didn’t stop Steve Bruce dry-heaving in utter vomit inducing disgust with his old club. Bruce said:
‘I was utterly disgusted. It leaves a bitter taste. After six years’ service I felt I deserved better than that. Familiarity does breed a contempt. The £3m was supposed to be compensation. I didn’t want to read my contract details in the papers. It’s become a bit of a laughing stock and it left me in an embarrassing situation, but now it’s closed.’
The next Wigan-Birmingham matchup? Saturday, 05 April 2008; a long way away but we are already looking forward to it. Honestly.
