Bolton Star Dreams Of Playing For Chelsea

Nic Anelka has issued a classic ‘come and get me’ to Chelsea boss Avram Grant, telling him that he fancies some Champions League action. The Sun reports that Anelka has a verbal agreement in his latest contract that would permit him to leave if a top four club makes a bid. Quite how a verbal agreement works in a written contract is beyond us but to be honest we are a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic here at the COS sewers. Chelsea and Man Utd are both reportedly ready to thrust £10million under Gary Megson’s nose for the Frenchman, and when asked about these rumours Anelka said:

“I am very flattered but I will keep my feet on the ground. As there was in the summer, there has been a lot of speculation. Sir Alex Ferguson said some nice things about me, which also flattered me. It’s always an honour to be praised by a person like him. I have yet to receive an offer. As soon as one is made, I will talk about it publicly but there has been nothing so far. I am happy at Bolton but, as I have already said, I would like to be part of a big club which plays in the Champions League. But if nothing happens, then I would be happy to stay.”

So that’ll be two moany French-speaking strikers at Stamford Bridge then. How will that work out?
