One man who thinks so is Chelsea’s ‘entertainer’ manager Avram Grant, who boasted about his side’s 15- game unbeaten run while coping with extensive injuries to, among others, John Terry, Petr Cech, Ricardo Carvalho, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba. Grant crowed:
“In the time we have put our run together we have played good football but also we’ve had a lot of injuries. But you see Arsenal are without two players at Middlesbrough and lose and United lost at Bolton without Wayne Rooney. Even Liverpool have not played so well without Yossi Benayoun.
“We have shown we have a big squad and one which is able to get results. For that reason my players deserve praise. From Carlo Cudicini in goal to Andriy Shevchenko up front as well as all the midfielders who have come in and done well.”
So is Avram right? Have Roman’s oceans of roubles, pounds, dollars, euros and yen bought them the strongest squad in the Premier League, and wasn’t injuries Mourinho’s excuse for not winning the League last year?
