Spanish midfielder expects stronger performance from City next season.
Manchester City midfielder David Silva has expressed his belief that the club will perform much better in the Premier League next season according to The Mirror.
City recorded a 2-1 victory over Manchester United in their Premier League derby game last Monday, but the result merely provided light relief from what has been a disappointing year at the Etihad Stadium.
Man City won their first ever Premier League title last season but have failed to keep pace with Manchester United this year.
Despite their derby victory, United still have a twelve point lead at the top of the Premier League table and Silva is determined for the club to mount a stronger challenge next season.
“I’m confident we can win the title again next year,” said Silva.
“I feel we’re growing every year as a club. You can see with the players signing new contracts that we are growing and making a better team every year.
“Hopefully anyone that comes in this summer will help the team and help us even better for next season.”
The Spanish midfielder clearly expects the club to bring spend big this summer to retain their title.
Silva also went on to say that he believes Robin Van Persie’s free kick at the Etihad Stadium in November was the turning point in City’s season as they have failed to stay within touching distance since the 3-2 defeat gave United a six point lead.
The Spaniard insisted that he remains focused on helping the club win the FA Cup this year as they look to end the season with some silverware.
