England midfielder believes Toure contract renewal has given the club a lift.
Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry has expressed his hope that more top players will be persuaded to sign for the club after hearing that Yaya Toure has agreed a new deal at the Etihad Stadium according to Sky Sports.
The powerful Ivorian has penned a new contract at the club which will see play for City for another four seasons and Barry believes that can only help the club during the upcoming transfer window.
Barry stated that everyone at the Etihad Stadium had been given a lift by the news that Toure had committed his future to the club.
Barry expressed his belief that other players of a similar quality to Toure will now be on course to join the club.
The former Aston Villa player insisted he was not thinking too much about the summer though and remained focused on finishing the season with City.
The club go head to head with Chelsea this weekend as they look to book a place in the final of this season’s FA Cup.
The tournament represents what will most likely be City’s last chance for silverware this season as they currently stand twelve points behind their city rivals Manchester United at the top of the Premier League.
