New Manchester United boss hoping to tempt striker into staying at Old Trafford.
New Manchester United boss David Moyes told Wayne Rooney his future lies at Old Trafford according to The Guardian.
The Scotsman has already begun preparations at the Premier League Champions following his appointment as successor to the retiring Sir Alex Ferguson.
One of his first tasks is to resolve the Rooney situation after the England striker told club officials three weeks ago that he wanted to leave the club.
Rooney and Moyes know each other well following their time at Everton together, and though Moyes sued Rooney at some point for inflammatory remarks about Moyes made in the player’s autobiography, the pair has now resolved any friction.
But that may not be enough to tempt Rooney into staying who has looked increasingly out of sorts as the season has drawn to a close.
Speculation has been rife that Rooney could leave the club this summer ever since he was left out of the United starting eleven for their crucial Champions League last sixteen tie against Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Rooney was said to be furious at being left out of the time and has felt undervalued since the arrival of Robin Van Persie last summer.
PSG, Monaco and Bayern Munich are likely to be amongst the front-runners for the player’s signature should Moyes fail in his quest to keep the player at Old Trafford.
