Valencia set asking price for French defender.
Arsenal have been told they will have to pay £9 million if they hope to secure the signing of Valencia centre-back Adil Rami according to The Daily Star.
Rami has been linked with a move away from the Spanish side for a number months after Valencia fell into financial difficulty.
The club know they will have to sell their best players in order to raise funds and that prompted speculation linking Rami with a move away from the club.
But the pressure on Valencia is likely to have eased somewhat in recent days following the announcement that Tottenham are close to signing striker Roberto Soldado.
That signing alone is unlikely to alleviate Valencia’s financial difficulties but gives them more room for negotiation on the rest of their players.
Arsenal are thought to be in the market for a new centre-back after a number of high profile errors from the back four last season.
Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger is determined not to allow a repeat to happen this season and is keen to bring in reinforcements to bolster his defence.
The club are currently focused on the signing of striker Luis Suarez though, and should the club pay the £55 million Liverpool are demanding it is not clear how much money Wenger would have left for new players.
