Stars unveil new Nike shirts
Star Striker Sunil Chetri and Midfielder Lenny Rodrigues were the first to wear the shirts at the launch.
The National side will run out in the new strip for the first time in a friendly against Tajikistan on August 14th.
The Jersey is made from 100% recycled polyester and weighs just 145 grams, over 1/5 lighter than previous kits.Each shirt and shorts is made from 13 recycled plastic water bottles.
Nike will be the official sponsor of the National side until 2017.
Marketing Director of Nike India Avinash Pant, speaking to the AIFF.com said: “Over the years, the game has evolved to become faster. the game requires players to be more agile and hence it is our endeavour to provide our athletes with the best products that will give them the competitive edge.”
Each shirt has hundreds of laser cut holes which allow for better ventilation, using 3D technology Nike has scanned the bodies of the worlds leading footballers to produce a shirt that better fits a typical footballer’s physique.
