The in-form Merseysiders have been keeping close tabs on the up-and-coming Spain international ever since previous head coach Kenny Dalglish was in charge at Anfield, with the Scot’s successor Brendan Rodgers having since continued the Reds’ pursuit of Tello.

And with the wide man having recently hinted that he may now have to quit the La Liga champions in the search of regular first-team football, the Northern Irishman is hopeful of being able to persuade the 22-year-old to depart Camp Nou and move to Anfield instead.

The Spaniard has been with Barca for his whole career to date, making his first-team debut for the Catalans in January 2012, with Tello having since gone on to make 66 appearances in total for the club in all competitions, scoring 15 goals in the process, including 10 in his 46 La Liga outings for the club.

However, despite those impressive attacking numbers, Tello has still to secure a regular starting berth with Barcelona and that may now lead the player to seek a new challenge in his career at Liverpool.
