The Red Devils have struggled badly for creativity in midfield for much of this season so far at Old Trafford, and especially on the flanks, where it is understood that new United head coach David Moyes has finally lost patience with both wingers Luis Nani and Ashley Young.
And as a result, the Scot has sent his scouts out to the Romanian capital to watch the in-form Rotariu in action first hand on several occasions of late, with Moyes getting back some glowing reports on the 18-year-old.
Rotariu has so far managed to register six goals and four assists in total in his 18 matches in all competitions for the Romanian giants, including five strikes and four assists in his 16 league outings so far in this campaign.
As a result, it is that kind of eye-catching wing play that now looks like persuading United to make a move for a player that is also understood to have been closely monitored by the likes of both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur recently.
