Wonderkid is already a full Croatia international.

According to various media reports over the weekend, the Catalans have recently seen a cut-price offer of  just £3.2m for the Croatia international rejected immediately out of hand by the player’s employers.

And that is because Zagreb are understood to value the 17-year-old at closer to the £17m mark, with Halilovic, having already been dubbed the new Luka Modric back in his homeland.

However, it is believed that Barca are now set to step up the pressure on Zagreb by sending a delegation to the Croatian capital this week in order to try and persuade the club to sell them their wonderkid this summer.

But Zagreb chairman Zdravko Mamic is believed to want to try and engineer a bidding war for his midfield starlet come the end of the campaign in order to extract as high a transfer fee as is possible for the Croat.

And to that effect, Mamic is said to be desperate for both United and Spurs to now also enter the race for Halilovic.
