Pepe Reina Napoli

Spaniard has been at the club for the past nine years.

Experienced Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Manuel Reina has admitted that it is now highly unlikely that he will ever play for the Merseyside giants again, according to reports in the Daily Express.

The highly rated Spain international is currently spending a season-long loan spell with Serie A high-flyers Napoli, however, that move is set to come to an end at the climax to this campaign.

And with the 31-year-old still under contract to the Reds until June 30 2016, Reina will have to return to his employers this summer.

However, Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers has since splashed out £9m in order to bring young Belgium international Simon Mignolet to the Premier League giants from Sunderland and as a result, the shot stopper now thinks that his future lies away from Merseyside next season.

“I’ve got to return to Liverpool, although it’s unlikely I’ll stay there,” Reina said.

“It was Liverpool who took the first step by not wanting me anymore because they were placing their faith in a younger goalkeeper.”

Reina has featured in a whopping 394 matches for the Reds since joining the club from La Liga outfit Villarreal in 2005.
