Red Devils are favourites to land German this summer.
Premier League champions Manchester United and rivals Chelsea are set to go head to head at the end of the season in the battle to win the coveted signature of Bayer Leverkusen attacking starlet Julian Brandt, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror.
The highly rated Germany Under-19 international already has a huge reputation in the Bundesliga after turning in a number of eye-catching displays for his previous club Wolfsburg.
And it was as a result of those impressive performances that the west London club tried to lure the wonderkid to Stamford Bridge last December, only for the 17-year-old to instead opt to move to Leverkusen instead as he both wanted to remain in Germany, while Sami Hyypia’s side were also able to guarantee the wide man regular first-team football in the Bundesliga.
However, it is now understood that both the Red Devils and the Blues have carried on scouting the winger, who has been dubbed the new Adnan Januzaj because of his likeness to United’s Belgium-born prodigy, in the hope of being able to persuade Brandt to move to the English Premier League next season.
