The Red Devils are known to currently be on the look out for a new left-sided full back to bring to Old Trafford this summer as a replacement for veteran France international Patrice Evra.
Evra, 32, is expected to leave the Theatre of Dreams at the end of the season with the defender’s current contract in the north west expiring on June 30 2014.
However, it had initially been expected that new United head coach David Moyes would try and sign either Southampton youngster Luke Shaw from St Mary’s or Sevilla’s Spain international Alberto Moreno.
But with United likely to lose out to arch-rivals Chelsea in the race to win the coveted signature of Shaw and Sevilla believed to be seeking an astronomical transfer fee somewhere in the region of the £25m mark for their young star, the Scot is said to now be thinking of switching his focus elsewhere this summer.
The Spain Under-21 international is contracted to the Mestalla until June 30 2015.
