The experienced Ivory Coast international has a contract with the Turkish champions that now only runs until the end of June and as such, Drogba will be available to pick up on a lucrative Bosman-style free transfer this summer.
And according to reports coming out of Italy, the Romans are keen to offer the Ivorian one last bumper pay day in the Italian capital next season, with even prepared to hand Drogba a one-year deal worth a staggering £3.5m as the club prepare for their return to the Uefa Champions League.
The Italian outfit are also said to be hopeful of persuading the 36-year-old to swap Istanbul for Rome by using the presence of the forward’s compatriot and fellow attacker Gervinho as a bargaining chip.
Drogba has so far managed to record an impressive 14 goals and seven assists in total so far this season in his 33 matches in all competitions, including an equally eye-catching 10 strikes and four assists in his 22 league encounters for Gala.
