The France international has only been at St James’ Park now since last January, when the full back arrived in the north east from Ligue 1 outfit Lille on a five-and-a-half-year deal for a transfer fee of just £5.5m.
And already in just his short time with the Magpies, Debuchy has built up a reputation as being one of the Premier League’s best attacking full backs, with the 28-year-old having featured in 42 matches in total for his new team in all competitions, 39 of which have come in the top flight, during which time the defender has managed to score one goal for the club.
However, with now both Roma and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich understood to be keen to land the player this summer for a fee somewhere in the region of the £8.5m mark, Debuchy’s days with the Geordies may soon be coming towards an end.
