The Croatian, understandably, hasn’t taken well to Pep Guardiola’s decision to bring in free agent Robert Lewandowski and after the 27 year old was dropped from Bayern Munich’s DFB Pokal final squad it became increasingly clear his Allianz Arena days are numbered.
Arsene Wenger needs strong striking options to either support overworked French Olivier Giroud or indeed replace the Gunners man and Mandzukic has been impressive over the course of two seasons at Bayern Munich and is an improvement on the somewhat static Arsenal man.
48 goals in 88 matches is a more than decent return on Bayern Munich’s £10m investment.
