5) Frank Lampard – Chelsea – 41 through-balls in 145 games
The veteran English midfielder has just confirmed that he’s leaving Chelsea after winning everything there was to win at Stamford Bridge. He’s more known for his ability to arrive late in the box and score goals himself, but this statistic shows that his ability to create chances for his teammates is probably underrated.
4) Samir Nasri – Manchester City – 45 through-balls in 149 games
The talented Frenchman isn’t going to the World Cup because he doesn’t get on with France boss Didier Deschamps, but in the Premier League, there are few better creatively. Nasri shone for Arsenal, before moving to Manchester City in 2011, where he has won two Premier League titles.
3) Wayne Rooney – Manchester United – 48 through-balls in 150 games
Rooney’s scored 94 goals over the past five seasons, which is far, far more than any of the players on this through-ball list. The English talisman is as brilliant creatively then as he is clinical in front of goal.
2) David Silva – Manchester City – 62 through-balls in 130 games
Right now, Silva is arguably the best playmaker in the Premier League. The mercurial Spaniard is technically wonderful. and has vision to match. His passes through to the likes of Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko or the onrushing Yaya Toure helped City clinch the title last term.
1) Cesc Fabregas – Barcelona – 64 goals in 52 games
Unbelievably, despite leaving the Premier League in 2011, Fabregas still tops this list! It’s perhaps no surprise that the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and even Liverpool are interested in the Spaniard’s services. He’s still only 27-years-old, and would be a fantastic addition for any of the clubs who want him.
