Check in to Uruguay vs Costa Rica

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola is readying a move to join the race to sign Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

The Allianz Arena manager has been given the backing of his board to make a big money offer for the Uruguayan who Guardiola hopes to line-up alongside summer signing Robert Lewandowski in a mouth-watering strike-pairing.

CaughtOffside understands that Guardiola is keen to freshen up his attack and is ready to launch a massive bid for the 27 year old Anfield ace that would entail a £60m cash fee and the addition of known Liverpool targets Xherdan Shaqiri and Javi Martinez.

La Liga sides Barcelona and Real Madrid have both been strongly linked with an interest in Suarez and Bayern Munich’s push for the former Ajax man is something of a surprise though arguably the German giants are the most in-form side in European football at present.

Suarez netted 31 Premier League goals last term and was also a great provider to boot, only team-mate Steven Gerrard laid on more assists in the English top tier in 2013/14, and is a much sought after player at present.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will hope his side repels all offers for Suarez and the Merseyside outfit may be confident of retaining the marksman’s services given the forward only recently signed a new long term contract.

Having secured a return to the Champions League one would imagine Suarez is happy to remain at Liverpool though the interest from Guardiola, a manager the star performer is known to admire, may prove tempting.

Bayern Munich have romped to back to back Bundesliga titles and won the Champions League title in 2012/13 before reaching the semi-final stage last season.
