(Video) Costa Rica 1-1 Greece (5-3 Penalties): World Cup Highlights From Recife

Watch Costa Rica’s shock progress to the quarter finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, beating Greece on penalties in Recife.

The Costa Rican fairytale has continued in Recife, with the Central American team’s stunning World Cup progress continuing as they won 5-3 on penalties against Greece after a relatively uninspiring 1-1 draw.

Michael Umana was the hero, stepping up to blast the winning penalty past the Greek ‘keeper to complete his nation’s 100% record from the spot and sending Los Ticos through into the quarter final.

They had taken the lead in normal play when Fulham midfielder Bryan Ruiz sidefooted past Karzenis from the edge of the box, but were denied a comfortable progression in injury time when Sokratis Papastathopoulos equalised for Greece in injury time after Costa Rica had been reduced to ten men.
