The 26 year old Belgian international had a very poor debut season at Old Trafford and may be a player new boss Louis van Gaal is ready to cash-in on with this source claiming a £15m bid is in the offing.
Former manager David Moyes brought in Fellaini from Everton for a massive £27.5m fee and then proceeded to use the usually attack minded midfielder in a holding role, a move that proved fairly disastrous, and an offer of £15m may be accepted by the Premier League side.
Fellaini failed to score a single goal in 21 appearances last term and became something of a scapegoat for last season’s failures.
Rafa Benitez may see this is a good time to bring in Fellaini ‘on the cheap’ and the presence of national team colleague Dries Mertens may prove a motivating factor.
