With the 2014/15 Premier League season now just one week away, 150 renowned journalists from around the world have voted for their ultimate XI for the new campaign.

We can’t say we disagree too much with their choices – this team should excel in the new season:

GK) Joe Hart

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart is selected between the sticks – and his performances could improve even more with Willy Caballero brought in to provide competition.

RB) Mathieu Debuchy

New Arsenal signing Mathieu Debuchy is selected at right back, with the Frenchman having arrived at the Emirates Stadium on the back of a fine season for Newcastle United.

CB) Laurent Koscielny

Another Arsenal man is selected at centre back, with Laurent Koscielny having enjoyed a fine campaign alongside big German Per Mertesacker.

CB) Vincent Kompany

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is always a feature in these sides, and is chosen alongside Koscielny in the heart of the back four.

LB) Leighton Baines

The England international had an excellent season for Everton, and is both solid defensively and capable of providing at the other end with both goals and assists.

CM) Yaya Toure

The Manchester City midfield is perhaps the biggest midfield goal threat in the Premier League, with his driving runs having earned him a number of them last season.

CM) Aaron Ramsey

Arsenal’s Welsh midfielder had an exceptional first half of the 2013/14 campaign and will be looking to refind that form after injury.

CM) Cesc Fabregas

It may be painful to watch for Arsenal fans, but Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas should add real quality to the Stamford Bridge midfield.

AM) Mesut Ozil

The German international enjoyed a relatively quiet first season for Arsenal, but is expected to really ramp things up this time around.

AM) Alexis Sanchez

The new Arsenal signing is perhaps the most exciting capture made by a Premier League side this summer and should hit the ground running, as he is well suited to the Gunners’ style.

SC) Robin van Persie

Endured an injury hit 2013/14 season for Manchester United, but the Dutchman should be back in amongst the goals once he is up to full fitness following the World Cup.
